Summary
Ash and co. are taking a nap under a tree before they head towards the next city. However, Togepi is awake, and it tries to wake up Pikachu. Pikachu doesn't wake up, which makes Togepi a bit upset. Togepi stares at the sky and notices the clouds drift by. This makes Togepi sleepy, and it falls asleep. A Sentret spots Ash and co. It runs back to its friends to tell the other Sentret what it saw.

Team Rocket is riding in an Arbok tank that they built. Jessie thinks that this weapon will guarantee victory for them, and she likes the way how Arbok is a good Pokémon to represent their team. They call their tank the Arbo-Tank. Jessie peers through her binoculars. She immediately spots Ash and co. sleeping. Knowing that they are asleep, this gives Team Rocket the perfect chance to capture Pikachu. Meowth adds in that they can't go any further or else the noise from the tank will wake them up.

Sentret walks over to Togepi. It finishes its apple that it was eating and throws the core on the ground. Sentret starts to poke Togepi, hoping that it will wake up. However, the poking causes Togepi to roll down the hill, and Sentret runs after Togepi. Team Rocket are outside their tank discussing plans on capturing Pikachu. Meanwhile, Togepi has woken up. It begins to play with Sentret. They both continue to roll down the hill, and they fall into the Arbo-Tank. Meowth hears Sentret and Togepi fall into the tank. Team Rocket looks up at the tank, and they see Togepi and Sentret playing near the control panel. Togepi pulls a lever, and the Arbo-Tank begins to move. Team Rocket chases after them.

Misty wakes up for her nap. She begins to notice that Togepi is mising. A Sentret pokes Ash to wake him up. Ash, thinking that it's Pikachu, ignores the poking. The Sentret keeps on poking Ash, and he finally wakes up. Ash is frightened to see Sentret right next to him. Brock wakes up, and him and Misty see the Sentret, too. Ash looks up Sentret in his Pokédex. Sentret picks up the apple core from the ground and tries to tell Ash and co. something. Brock thinks that Sentret might've lost something. Misty hopes Sentret can help them find Togepi since it's gone.

Suddenly, they see something far away. Sentret stands on its tail to see what it is. It's the Arbo-Tank. Sentret begins to run towards it, and Pikachu follows Sentret. Ash and co. follow them, too. Team Rocket continues running after the Arbo-Tank. A herd of Sentret passes Team Rocket, and they try to stop the Arbo-Tank themselves, however their plan fails. James announces that he spent all of Team Rocket's money on the Arbo-Tank. This gets Meowth and Jessie angry. After their fighting, they continue to run after the Arbo-Tank. Ash begins to see the Arbo-Tank, and he thinks that it's another one of Team Rocket's contraptions.

Ash and co. meet up with Team Rocket. Meowth says that Togepi and Sentret are in the Arbo-Tank, and Misty and the Sentret with Ash and co. continues to run towards the Arbo-Tank. Brock sends out Onix. Ash, Misty, Brock, and Sentret ride on Onix towards the Arbo-Tank. Meanwhile, the Arbo-Tank is using its drill and mechanical arms to destroy the boulders that are blocking its path. Togepi and Sentret are happy. Brock notices that no matter what is in the Arbo-Tank's way, nothing will stop it from getting through. Brock does have a plan on defeating the Arbo-Tank, however. Brock tells his friends that they are going to dig a deep hole, fill it with rocks, and then moisten it. When the Arbo-Tank comes, it will fall into the hole and be trapped. Misty adds in that they will then rescue Togepi and Sentret.

Ash and co. begins their mission. Onix digs a hole in the ground and fills it with rocks. Then Misty sends out Staryu, Poilwag, and Psyduck to use Water Gun. Ash has Squirtle use Water Gun, too. Brock notices that the Arbo-Tank is coming their way. The Pokémon use Water Gun as fast as they can. Sentret pulls a lever, and the Arbo-Tank moves faster. Ash and co. head for cover, and the Arbo-Tank falls into the hole.

Now that the Arbo-Tank is in the hole, Ash and co. quickly run towards it. Misty sees Togepi close by. Sentret sees its friend too, who is caught in wires. Ash and Pikachu find the door to the Arbo-Tank. Suddenly, the Arbo-Tank starts up again, and Pikachu falls into the Arbo-Tank. The Arbo-Tank fires a missile to clear its path, and it moves away from the group. Suddenly, Team Rocket appears, and they say their motto. They point to the Arbo-Tank and it disappears. Ash and co. wonder what happened, and they rush towards the Arbo-Tank. They find out that the Arbo-Tank fell into a deep hole that was dugged by Team Rocket.

Meowth jumps on top of the Arbo-Tank and runs inside. Meowth sees that all the Pokémon are tangled in wires. Pikachu sees Meowth and shocks him with a Thundershock. The electricity from the Thundershock causes the Arbo-Tank to start up again. It uses a spring to jump out of the hole. Then it continues its way through the path, crushing anything that gets in its way. Ash tells Sentret to warn all the other Pokémon. Sentret uses its loud voice to warn the other Pokémon about the Arbo-Tank. All the Pokémon run away from the Arbo-Tank.

Just a few meters away is a large mountain. Meowth says that they must take action or the Arbo-Tank will be destroyed when it hits the mountain. Ash and co. also realize the danger that the Arbo-Tank is in. Before the Arbo-Tank hits the mountain, it drills its way through it. Brock gathers everyone together, and he tells everyone is second plan. Brock states that they will need to use Charizard to stop the Arbo-Tank long enough for everyone to get out of it. Then Charizard can use its Flamethrower to finally destroy the Arbo-Tank. If their plan fails, the Arbo-Tank will destroy a nearby town. Jessie and James are angry that their expensive Arbo-Tank will be destroyed at the end.

Ash sends out Charizard. Charizard flies ahead to stop the Arbo-Tank. When the Arbo-Tank makes it out of the mountain, Charizard prepares itself. Ash and co. are following the Arbo-Tank on Onix. Ash orders Charizard to stop the Arbo-Tank. Charizard uses its arms to try and stop it, but the Arbo-Tank continues to move. Sentret runs in and tries to stop it, too. The Arbo-Tank moves closer and closer to the city. Brock orders Onix to grab the Arbo-Tank's tail. Charizard then uses Flamethrower to melt the window. Pikachu, Sentret, and Togepi quickly run out of the Arbo-Tank. Meowth realizes that the Arbo-Tank is about to explode. Jessie and James run inside the Arbo-Tank to try and prevent it from exploding. However, they fail and the Arbo-Tank blows up. Team Rocket blasts off into the sky.

Ash and co. are glad that the city is safe. Misty scolds Togepi, and Sentret scolds its friend. Officer Jenny rides up to them, and asks them if they are responsible for the tunnel in the mountain. Ash replies that they are, and Officer Jenny thanks them. Before, travelers had to drive around the mountain to get to the city, but now they can drive straight through the mountain. Ash and co. realize that the Arbo-Tank actually did something good. Now Ash and co. continue their way towards Azalea Town.
