Summary
Ash and co. are on Mandarin Island. Ash has just finished beating another trainer. Misty and Tracey are surprised of the amount of battles Ash has won. Ash thinks that he's the best trainer around and that nobody can beat him. One last thing - he's hungry. The group stops at a restaurant for lunch. Ash eats his sandwiches in one bite. Tracey comes back with a flier. The flier reads that Prima will be giving a Pokémon lecture. Misty seems to be a big fan of Prima because she uses water type Pokémon. Prima walks up to them. Misty and Tracey introduce themselves to her. Prima walks up to Togepi to say hello.

While eating lunch, Team Rocket spies on Ash and co. James recognizes Prima, but he doesn't know where. Prima watches the sea. The sun shines on Prima, and she says that it feels like an old friend. Misty starts to talk to Prima, but she tells them to be quiet because the wind is speaking. Misty and Tracey are clueless of what Prima is trying to get at. Ash challenges Prima to a battle, but Prima ignores him. Prima tells him that the ocean is beautiful, but Ash doesn't care. All he wants to do is battle. When Prima continues to ignore Ash, Ash thinks that Prima is too scared to battle him. Ash finds a trainer, and they start a battle. They decide to use two Pokémon each.

Ash sends out Squirtle, and the trainer sends out Persian. Tracey notices the straight tail that Persian has. That means that Persian has lots of battling experience. Squirtle uses Water Gun, but Persian dodges it with great speed. Persian uses Thunderbolt. Squirtle takes the shock, but then it uses Withdraw. After getting back on its feet, Squirtle crashes into Persian with Skull Bash. Persian faints. The trainer returns Persian back, and he sends out Tauros. Tauros uses Tackle and Squirtle faints. Ash sends out Charizard next. Misty tells Ash that he can't handle Charizard, but Ash doesn't care. Ash thinks he has enough experience to handle Charizard, but Charizard shoots flames at him. Tauros rams into Charizard with Take Down. This gets Charizard mad, and it uses Flamethrower. Tauros gets burnt, and it faints. Charizard starts to go out of control. It shoots out many Flamethrowers. Ash tries to return Charizard, but it doesn't work. Prima comes up to them. She sends out Slowbro. Slowbro uses Disable to freeze Charizard. Then Slowbro brings slowly brings Charizard down. Now Ash successfully returns Charizard. Prima tells Ash that he needs to train Charizard. She invites them all to her demonstration.

At the stadium, Prima is getting ready to battle her opponent. Team Rocket is in the stadium selling food. James says that he must've seen Prima on TV or in the newspaper. Jessie suggests that they steal her Pokémon. The bell rings and the match begins. A series of matches goes on, and Prima wins them all. The crowd cheers for Prima. Ash even sees the strength Prima has.

Ash and co. goes back to Prima's house. Tracey and Misty give nice comments on Prima's battling. Ash thinks that Prima is trying to teach him something with psychology. Prima says that everyone has their own style of battling. Prima tries to behave like water. She tries to go with the flow when not battling. The most important thing is knowing where your true strength lies. Ash says that he's strong, but Prima tells him that he needs a different kind of strength. A strength that you can share with your Pokémon. Ash tells Prima that he wants to have a Pokémon battle. Prima agrees to it, and they head down to the battlefield.

It will be a 1-on-1 battle. Ash chooses Pikachu, and Prima sends out Cloyster. Pikachu uses Thunderbolt, but Cloyster uses Withdraw to protect itself. Pikachu uses Agility next, but Cloyster's Reflect sends Pikachu backwards. Pikachu gets up, and it releases a Thunder at Cloyster. Cloyster takes the hit. Tracey notices that Cloyster is using Rage. Its attack power goes way up when this is in effect. Cloyster shoots out an Aurora Beam at Pikachu. Then Cloyster slams into Pikachu with Take Down. The battle ends with Prima the winner. Prima walks up to Ash to make sure that Pikachu is okay. She tells Ash that you cannot win with only using skills. Ash assumes that he must be a great trainer because of all the badges he earned. Prima explains to him that the badges were gifts from his Pokémon. They cared for Ash, and battled for him. She adds on that losing is very important too. Losing gives you the pain and suffering, and that's where the real strength comes in. Ash will remember this very well.

Team Rocket interrupts them from their balloon. They ask Prima if she has a CD of her lecture. She whispers to Ash that it is $18.95. Team Rocket comes down, and they say their motto. Misty thinks that they are here to steal Prima's Pokémon. Team Rocket says that stealing Prima's Pokémon was their plan, but since they don't stand a chance against her, stealing Pikachu would be easier. They tell Ash that losing is very important. Tracey tells Team Rocket that they are weird, but they don't seem to mind. Ash wants to battle them, but Prima tells him not to fight. She takes care of it instead. Prima sends out Jynx. Jynx uses Ice Beam which freezes Team Rocket. Then Jynx uses Blizzard, blowing them away. The ice leaves sparkles in the air.

Prima tells Ash that the next gym is in Trovita. She hopes that she helped Ash out a little bit. Ash tells her that he will remember what she said when he gets into trouble. They wave goodbye to each other, and Ash and co. heads for Trovita Island.
