Summary:

The Pocket Monsters Crystal Logo appears and then dematerializes leaving just the crystal in the background as the Raikou Legend of Thunder (ライコウ 雷の伝説) logo materializes in its place.

Kenta, a recent beginner Pokémon trainer stands above an empty Pokémon stadium as he looks down and ponders about the many battles that he could face there. He pulls out a Poké ball and aim it in front of him. Professor Utsugi is seen holding a Poké ball as he teaches Kenta, Marina and Jun'ichi as they sit at a table with their starter Pokémon.

In the next scene, Kenta is seen running with his Hinoarashi on a beach as Hinoarashi slowly transitions through its evolutions until it reaches the Bakphoon stage and they continue running. A lightning bolt strikes a cliff as the Rocket Gang agents make an appearance with their Pokémon.

Marina is seen in the next segment making a pose with a Poké ball followed by Jun'ichi who unveils himself from behind a cloak. The intro ends with Raikou and the main characters from the special all on one final shot together.
