Summary


English Official Summary

While searching for firewood in the foggy woods, Ash and Pikachu discover a bunch of prep-school kids bullying a classmate named Joe. They're all students at Pokémon Technical Institute, which offers classes that allow trainers to enter the Pokémon League without getting badges. But Joe says the rough treatment is necessary so he'll be strong enough to graduate. Still, Ash doesn't like the idea, and demands to meet the person responsible for this "tutoring" program. We soon meet this leader, a conceited girl named Giselle. Brock and Ash are smitten by her looks, but Misty wants to battle. To Misty's surprise, Giselle's Rock-type Graveler defeats her Water-type Starmie, proving that matching up types is only one of several factors that determine victory. As Giselle gloats, Ash challengers her, and Pikachu faces her Cubone. But Cubone is unaffected by Electric-type attacks—how can Pikachu win? What's the real deal with this school? And why does the school seem so familiar to Jessie and James?

The paper that Kasumi takes our of her pocket was painted over in the dub. In the Japanese version it states: "Pokémon Trainer boarding prep school, Pokémon Seminar Upon leaving this school, one is granted permission to train in the Pokémon League without the need for the practical tests. In short, the Semi is for becoming qualified in a short without wandering to collect the badges in the gyms of various locations. This beloved school exists for those aiming to be Pokémon Trainers. In the English dub, a picture of the school was at the top of the page but the text was too blurry to read although Brock reads the paper out loud and he says: "Pokémon Technical Institute. A boarding school for serious Pokémon preparation."

...I can't believe Ash actually showed any sign of feeling attraction!
I do not support AshxGiselle, not one bit. He snapped out of it after seeing what a little *$&#$ she was. But it's still extraordinary that she triggered a romantic response.

Summary:
Satoshi and friend lose their way in a deep deep forest, with fog enshrouding them in white darkness. They decide to give up searching for the way for the time being, and take a rest, while Satoshi goes further into the forest in search of firewood.

There, he happens across a lone boy surrounded by five of his classmates bullying him. From what the boys say, it appears they are all students at the Pokémon Seminar (aka PokéSemi), a prep school for Pokémon Trainers. Graduates from the PokéSemi get to compete in the Pokémon League without any further testing, so while kids who wish to become Pokémon Trainers really wish to enroll in this school, it has also gained a reputation of being a prestigious school only very rich children can go to.

In addition, the dark shadows on the students' faces seem to hint towards something more going on here.
