English Official Summary

After our Heroes dock on Lily Of The Valley Island for the Sinnoh League competition, Ash completes his registration and calls Professor Oak to thank him for the good-luck flowers and card. Ash also asks the professor if he will send the Pokémon he’s been keeping for Ash at his lab, and Professor Oak happily agrees. Team Rocket, as usual, has a plan to steal Ash’s Pokémon, and grabs five of them during the transfer. The villains are soon sent blasting off again, but Ash’s Poké Balls go flying as well! Our Heroes quickly find the Poké Balls, but they’re empty! So our Heroes set off to find Ash’s missing Pokémon. One by one, Corphish, Totodile, Snorlax, and Bayleef are all found safe and sound. Team Rocket isn't through yet, though, and they go after Ash’s last missing Pokémon, Cyndaquil, with a seemingly invincible robot! During the battle, Cyndaquil evolves into Quilava, and uses its newly learned Eruption move to send Team Rocket blasting off a second time. As the opening ceremonies begin, Ash notices that Nando, Barry, and Conway are all competing—as well as Paul. And so, as he looks forward to his first-round battle against Nando, we leave Ash at the beginning of the next chapter in his continuing journey to become a Pokémon Master!

Script Error

The Japanese original narrator doesn't say anything about the ferry or Wingull.

Narrator (English): As a flock of welcoming Wingull mark the spot, our heroes' ferry cuts through the water...
Narrator (Japanese): Satoshi and his friends continued their journey, aiming to enter the Sinnoh League.

Meowth isn't very productive or enthusiastic about a thinking of a plan in the English dub and stated that he'd think about a plan after he had lunch. Jessie then insults Meowth for his lunch comment. Musashi in the Japanese original wanted to think of a plan fast to catch all the Pokémon and Nyarth was a bit hesitant to think of a plan fast.

Character English Translation Japanese
Jessie Let's put a plan in place and poach those Pokémon. We need to think of a plan to get them swiftly!
Meowth Yeah, sure, right after lunch. Swiftly, huh...?
Jessie Keep the sarcasm to yourself. What? I'm right, aren't I?

Script Error

A very interesting difference here where the original aired closed captions were 'censoring' what Jessie said due to the shrinkage sexual reference.

Jessie (Actual audio): No, now we're going to have shrinkage!
Jessie (Closed Caption): No, now we're going to get all wrinkly!
Musashi: How cruel! Our mecha is all wet.

Script Error

The Japanese original used the term seika (聖火) which means "sacred fire/torch" but the English dub removed the "sacred" part from its title.

English Announcer: And with the lighting of the Sinnoh League Flame,
Japanese Announcer: The flame of the sacred torch... has been lit!

I think we can postulate that the Pokemon seen at the end of Saikou Everyday are the Pokemon that are going to be seen being reunited with Satoshi in this episode. This has been speculated since the opening first aired. I doubt will see any other of Satoshi's Pokemon that are not included in the opening at the League.

Guess I'll be looking forward to this one. Haven't seen Satoshi's other Pokemon in action for a long time... xD

He's got his Cyndaquil to be a Quilava.

A fun episode to watch. It was great to see Ash's Pokemon again and it appears that he will indeed be using them in the League. I was hoping for a Cyndaquil/Cyndaquil scene similar to the Bulbasaur/Bulbasaur scene that Ash and May had.

Why didn't they show all of Ash's older Pokemon? Anyone notice these were missing:

Sceptile
Swellow
Kingler
Tauros

And of course Charizard, Squirtle and Gliscor.

Sceptile and Swellow were his strongest Pokemon of Advanced Generation, why is he not using them in the Sinnoh league?
