Falkner's Hoothoot was first seen when it was commanded by Falkner to rescue Pikachu from Team Rocket. It was successfully able to snatch Pikachu from Jessie and return it to Ash Ketchum. Hoothoot then participated in the Violet City Gym Battle between Falkner and Ash Ketchum. It was easily able to take out Ash's Chikorita, dodging Vine Whip and attacking with a combination of Peck and Tackle. It then faced off against Pikachu and lost after being hit by Thunderbolt and Quick Attack.
