Incredible episode!! It was great to see Hikari pull off the ultimate Flame Ice combo, and the combo of Plusle and Minun was very powerful. It was also interesting to see how devastating Encore can really be, and Hikari's way of getting rid of its effects was simple yet effective. Finally, the animation was great.

I really enjoyed this episode. I usually don`t like the contest ones, because it`s so obvious Hikari will win. But when Urara used Encore, I truly thought Hikari would face defeat similar to Satoshi VS Shinji. It was great to see her turn it arond. Great episode.
Also, it was nice to see a horizontal line pattern when Hikari held up her ribbon, really added to the great animation.

To add to my previous comment, Anyway, this episode was probably one of my absolute favourite contest episodes. Usually, it`s painfully obvious Hikari will win, or she loses and it`s uneventful. But Urara quite systematically destroyed her, and I honestly thought she`d lose, but I was actually surprised this time, and she went or a come-from-behind victory. I still think Hinoarashii`s overpowered for just hatching, if it evolves in the next few months, I`ll be even more surprised, since it took Phanpy VERY long to evolve. In addition, Hinoarashii got run over by Manmoo, and Manmoo got "hurt' by Discharge and Spark. But overall, excellent episode, looking forward to the next.

OMG! That was an incredible contest episode, i loved almost everything about it like Hikari finally receiving her final ribbon, the grand Flame Ice Combo was timed perfectly and plusle/minun soo cute.
There are a few things that bothered me like how the creators decided to get plusle/minun to continuously use spark. Like seriously is there not another attack they could have got them to use, they must have used up to about 14 times on manmoo and hinoarashi before they got to the pikari joke. Also why was manmoo affected by spark and charge beam if it's part ground type?

Overall it all comes down to one gorgeous episode, definitely one of the best in DP!

A few interesting edits in this episode. Once again they seem to mainly focus on Team Rocket. I added a list of edits from this episode to the Epguide.

Character Bios written:
- Urara: Urara faced off against Musashi in the first battle round of the Asatsuki Town Pokémon Contest. She was able to win the battle by skillfully using her Plusle and Minun's combination moves in order to block the attacks of Musashi's Habunake and Megayanma, thus easily subtracting a great deal of points from her opponent. The Cheering Pokémon helped Urara reach the final battle round of the contest, where she faced off against her rival, Hikari. Urara gave Hikari a hard time, as Plusle and Minun managed to successfully dodge many of their opponents' moves. Their Encore also had a significant impact in Hikari's strategy rendering her Manmoo and Hinoarashi susceptible to Plusle and Minun's attacks. However, with the help of Manmoo and Hinoarashi who encouraged her when she was feeling helpless, Hikari managed to pull off a last-minute victory after perfecting her Flame Ice combination towards the end of the battle, which helped her deduct enough points from Urara before the timeout. This made Urara really upset and she vowed to beat Hikari in the Grand Festival.

- Urara's Plusle: Urara used her Plusle and Minun in the battle rounds of the Asatsuki Town Pokémon Contest. The Cheering Pokémon were used against Musashi's Habunake and Megayanma in the first battle round, where they managed to easily block their opponents' attacks and overpower them with their combination moves, thus aiding Urara in easily subtracting a great deal of points from Musashi, and winning the battle in the end.

After defeating other co-ordinators too, Urara reached the final battle round of the contest, where her Plusle and Minun faced off against Hikari's Manmoo and Hinoarashi. Plusle and Minun's combined Encore rendered their opponents helpless and susceptible to their attacks. However, after Hikari got encouraged by her Manmoo and Hinoarashi, she managed to overcome her fears and pull off a turnaround victory by perfecting her Flame Ice combination, which resulted in her deducting enough points from Urara before the timeout.

- Urara's Minun: Urara used her Plusle and Minun in the battle rounds of the Asatsuki Town Pokémon Contest.

- Hikari's Manmoo: Hikari's Manmoo was used alongside Hikari's Hinoarashi in the battle rounds of the Asatsuki Town Pokémon Contest. Their combination move seemed to be imperfect, as the ice that engulfed Hinoarashi's Flame Wheel attack melted really quickly. Even though they hadn't mastered Flame Ice yet, Manmoo and Hinoarashi managed to win through all of the battle rounds, eventually reaching the finals where they faced off against Urara's Plusle and Minun. Plusle and Minun proved to be two pretty strong opponents for Manmoo and Hinoarashi, especially due to their combined Encore attack. However, after encouraging Hikari, who was feeling desperate, and helping her overcome her fears, Manmoo and Hinoarashi managed to master their Flame Ice combination and pull off a last-minute victory, helping Hikari earn her fifth ribbon and a place at the Grand Festival.
