Summary
Ash and co. are sailing for their next adventure. Ash asks if Lapras is okay, and Lapras smiles at him. Tracey sees something in the water. Lapras picks it up, and hands it to Ash. Inside the bottle is a note. The letter reads, "If you know anything about the Crystal Onix, let me know right away." The letter is signed by a girl named Marissa from Sunburst Island. The group all wants to see the Crystal Onix. Sunburst Island is right ahead, and so Lapras takes everyone there.

The first thing Ash and co. sees are the shops with many glass sculptures. They walk around to look at the shiny glass. Pikachu walks up to a sculpture. Ash tells Pikachu to not break it. Then they see a man yelling at a little girl for keeping the shop open. Then the man walks away. The little girl tells Ash and co. that her brother, Mateo, runs the shop. The girl introduces herself as Marissa. She's the one who wrote the letter. Unfortunately for Marissa, Ash doesn't know anything about the Crystal Onix. They all decide to talk with Marissa's brother. Mateo asks Ash and co. if Marissa has been bothering them. Ash and Misty says no, and they wonder why his store doesn't have any merchandise. Mateo tells them his story.

His grandfather used to run the store, and many people would stop by for a look. Mateo's grandfather was very talented, and made glass sculptures everyday. When the grandfather died, Mateo tried his best to make good sculptures, but they never turned out right. Mateo throws breaks a sculpture with his anger. Ash wonders of what is so bad about his sculptures. Mateo tells him that his sculptures look like statues, but his grandfather's sculptures looks like they would come alive at any moment. What Mateo needs is some inspiration. Mateo's grandfather has seen the Crystal Onix, and that inspired him.

When his story ends, Mateo shows them a sculpture of the Crystal Onix that his grandfather made. Ash and co. decides to stay and help Mateo and Marissa find the Crystal Onix. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is at a glass shop. James finds a blade, and Jessie finds glasses. Meowth yells at them causing the glass to break. The shop owner tells Team Rocket that they have to pay for it. Because Team Rocket doesn't have any money, they have to work. Jessie and James are busy chopping up wood. The shop owner and another man comes out discussing the Crystal Onix. Team Rocket overhears their conversation. They decide to capture the Crystal Onix.

Tracey sends out Venonat to track down the Crystal Onix. Mateo shows Venonat a picture of it, and Venonat starts to search. Venonat comes across a bunch of rocks that looks almost exactly the same as the Crystal Onix. Venonat is returned back, and Tracey sends out Marill. Tracey plays his tape recorder, and a sound of Onix is played. Marill starts to look around, and it senses something.

Marill points at a small island across the lake. Joining the two islands is a sandbar. When the tide gets really low, you can just walk onto the island. Before they get to the island, everyone falls into a hole. Team Rocket laughs as they say their motto. Marissa starts to cry, but Ash promises her that they will beat Team Rocket to the Crystal Onix. They dig their way out of the hole, and they run across the sandbar to the next island.

They see Team Rocket caught in the traps that they made. Marill hears the Crystal Onix inside the cave. Inside the cave is a bunch of sparkling crystal. Marill jumps down in the water. Its tail is floating so you can see where it's going. Marill tells them that the Crystal Onix is in the water. Tracey sees the shadow of the Crystal Onix. The Crystal Onix emerges out of the water. Its whole body is made out of crystal. Tracey starts a sketch that will be sent to Professor Oak. Mateo came prepared with a few Pokémon. He sends out Cloyster first, which uses Water Gun. However, the water has no effect on the Crystal Onix. Cloyster uses a rapid Water Gun, but the attacks doesn't do anything at the Crystal Onix. Then the Crystal Onix tackles Cloyster causing it to faint.

Team Rocket comes running in the cave. Misty wonders how Team Rocket escaped, but that's a secret that only Team Rocket knows. Team Rocket dreams about having a necklace, tub, and charm. Jessie sends out Arbok, and James sends out Victreebel. Misty sends out Staryu which tackles Arbok and Victreebel. Then Pikachu zaps Team Rocket. Team Rocket starts to run, but they run into the Crystal Onix. The Crystal Onix slams Team Rocket out of the cave with its tail. Mateo sends out Charmeleon next to battle. The Crystal Onix uses Rock Throw, but Charmeleon dodges the rocks. Charmeleon uses Flamethrower which makes the Crystal Onix burn up. An Ember attack from Charmeleon hits the Crystal Onix. Mateo sees himself in the Crystal Onix as they face each other. Then the Crystal Onix crashes back into the water. Mateo doesn't want to capture the Onix. He tells them that he had a strange feeling when staring at the Crystal Onix. Now Mateo has the inspiration he needs to make better sculptures.

Back at the shop, Mateo begins to work with Charmeleon again. Marissa can't wait to see what he will make next. Ash and co. are leaving the island. They say their goodbyes at each other. In Ash's hand is a small Pikachu sculpture. The sculpture looks like it's alive. Everyone is happy that Mateo has the inspiration he needs to have a successful shop.

I absolutely loved this concept of playing a large version of the Pokemon Card Game. The balloons as the HP counters was a nice fun concept too. They should have a large version of the Pokemon card game at the World finals and get the people that are close to the end play it on a life size board like that so a lot of people could watch and also make it easy to broadcast and record.
