Summary
Ash and co. have finally arrived in Solaceon Town where Dawn will compete in her next contest. Right now Dawn is doing some final training before she goes on stage. Her Aipom uses a gorgeous Swift attack, and then it uses Focus Punch to knock the stars in each other. At the end of the move, the stars explode leaving sparkles in its place. Ash and Brock are impressed with Dawn's work. Dawn then asks Piplup to use Bubblebeam. Piplup spits out a few bubbles in the air. Then Dawn tells Aipom to use Focus Punch. Aipom uses the attack to make it look likes its hitting two things at once. Dawn states that she has been working on that move for a long time. Brock tells Dawn that Aipom has actually learned a new move. Dawn takes out her Pokédex and finds out that Aipom is using Double Hit. Brock thinks that Aipom should be close to evolving since it learned Double Hit. Dawn wonders what Aipom will evolve into, and a stranger walks up to them and says that Aipom evolves into Ambipom. It is Kenny, one of Dawn's old friends. Kenny assumes that Dawn is entering the next contest. Dawn tells him that she is and that she plans on winning. Ash asks Kenny if he would like to battle with him, and Kenny tells Ash that he can't. He plans to visit Dialga and Palkia, and this surprises Ash, Dawn, and Brock.

Meanwhile, Team Galactic appears in front of a temple. Two statues of Dialga and Palkia are in front of it. Meowth is picking berries nearby and notices Team Galactic walking near the entrance of the temple. He signals Jessie and James over, and the group assumes that they are up to no good. In the entrance, one of the Galactic members sends out a Bronzor, and it uses Flash to light up the area. Then the Team Galactic members continue to walk ahead. Team Rocket decides to trail them. Ash and co. approach the temple. They also see the two statues of Dialga and Palkia. Kenny explains that they are at the Solaceon Ruins. Dawn finds some writing on the statues and notices that it is similar to the words of Cynthia. Kenny is excited that Dawn was able to meet Cynthia, the Sinnoh champion. Kenny asks Ash if they can have their battle now at the ruins. Ash agrees to the challenge. He asks who should go first. Dawn takes out her Coin Toss application on her Pokétch to decide. She flips the coin to decide. It is heads so Ash goes first.

It is a 1-on-1 battle. Ash thinks that Kenny will use Prinplup for the battle, so he sends out Turtwig. Kenny sends out Breloom for the battle. Dawn looks up Breloom in her Pokédex. Brock knows that grass moves don't work well on grass Pokémon. Dawn thinks that Kenny may have a plan. Turtwig starts the battle off with a Tackle. Kenny orders Breloom to dodge, but it is too late. Breloom gets hit by the Tackle. Kenny notices that Turtwig is a very fast Pokémon. Turtwig then uses Razor Leaf, but Breloom counters with Mach Punch. The punch hits and weakens Turtwig a bit. Turtwig then uses Bite, but Breloom fights back with Energy Ball. Breloom's attack hits Turtwig. Turtwig is severely damaged by the attack, but it is still able to fight. Brock is amazed at the power Breloom has, and Dawn knows that Kenny is just trying to show off. Ash then asks Kenny if he could teach Turtwig Energy Ball. Ash thinks that the move would be perfect for Turtwig. Kenny tells Ash that it would be helpful if Turtwig knew Bullet Seed since both attacks work the same way. Unfortunately, Turtwig does not know Bullet Seed. However, Turtwig still wants to learn the attack. Kenny decides to teach the attack to Turtwig only if Ash can beat him in a battle. Ash and Turtwig both agree to that.
Team Galactic continues their way through the Solaceon Ruins, and Team Rocket continues to follow them. Team Galactic heads into one room. One the floor is a strange design. The three members place three plates into the design. The floor lights up. Several Unown lie on the wall, and they begin to light up. The Unown come to life. One of the Team Galactic members already knew that Team Rocket was following them. He calls out for them, and this surprises Team Rocket. The Galactic leader holds a cube in his hand. Apparently, the cube has some connection with the Unown. He orders Bronzor to use Confuse Ray on the Unown. After the attack, the Unown become confused and angry. They have their bodies turned towards Team Rocket, and Team Galactic has disappeared. The rage from the Unown can be seen from the outside too. The platform that Dawn was sitting on suddenly moves. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is being chased by the Unown. Back outside, Piplup and Aipom both fall off the platform and into the inside of the Solaceon Ruins. Dawn chases after them, and Ash and co. make it inside too. On the roof stands Team Galactic. They have the cube, and they make their getaway.

Ash and co. are inside the Solaceon Ruins. From the looks of things they seem to be trapped in there. Kenny is scared of the dark place, but Ash tries to tell Kenny that being scared will only make his Pokémon scared. Kenny agrees with Ash, and his fear fades away. Ash states that they just have to find Dawn, and then they can leave. Dawn is in another section of the Solaceon Ruins. She is trying to figure out a way out. Suddenly, the Unown confront Dawn. They attack, but Aipom and Piplup manage to counter the attacks. Dawn and her Pokémon start to run up a staircase. The Unown meet her at the top and attack. Dawn orders Piplup and Aipom to attack. Piplup's Bubblebeam hit the Unown. The Unown return back to normal and so does the room. However, the rooms up ahead are still filled with darkness.

Meanwhile, Ash and co. are busy dodging the attacks from the rest of the Unown. Ash wonders why the Unown are attacking them, and Brock thinks that something must have made them confused and angry. Ash and Brock have their Pokémon attack the Unown. The Unowns' confusion wears off, and the rooms return back to normal. This makes it easier for them to find Dawn. However, the room that Dawn is in is still filled wtih darkness. More Unown appear in front of Dawn. Piplup uses Whirlpool on the Unown, and the Unown return back to normal. Suddenly, Team Rocket appears. Dawn asks Team Rocket if the whole situation is their fault, and Team Rocket replies with a no. More Unown head their way, and Team Rocket hides behind Dawn and her Pokémon. Piplup and Aipom both attack the raging Unown. After the attacks, Aipom begins to glow. It evolves into Ambipom. More confused Unown still head towards Dawn. Ambipom stops them with its Swift attack. Team Rocket is impressed with the new power Ambipom has.

Suddenly, Ash and co. meet up with Dawn and Team Rocket -- except Dawn and Team Rocket are on the ceiling while Ash and co. are on the floor. Brock assumes that Unown caused this. He's right. More confused Unown appear. Piplup uses its Bubblebeam on the Unown to bring them back to normal. The Unown disappear and Dawn and Team Rocket begin to fall towards the floor. Ash and co. run to catch Dawn and Team Rocket. Ash finds out that Aipom evolved into Ambipom, and he's glad. Suddenly, an exit out of the Solaceon Ruins appears. Everyone is glad that things are back to normal.

Once the whole group goes outside, Dawn congratulates Piplup for helping them out. Ash still wants to know how everything occured in the first place. Brock turns to Team Rocket. Team Rocket quickly says that they don't know anything, and they run away. Ash looks up Ambipom in his Pokédex. Dawn is very sure that she will win the contest now that her Aipom has evolved. Ash asks Kenny about the battle they had earlier. Kenny decides to teach Energy Ball to Turtwig once they get back to the Pokémon Center. The adventure with Ash and co. continues...
