Summary
A Glameow and Misdreavus is seen in the forest. It looks like they know each other. They see Ash and co. walking along in the forest. Happy to see them, Glameow and Misdreavus run towards Ash and co. They begin to talk to them with sad faces. Pikachu and Piplup communicate with Glameow and Misdreavus. Dawn knows that the Pokémon look familiar. She has a guess to who they belong to. Glameow and Misdreavus begin to run off with Pikachu and Piplup chasing them. Ash and co. run after the Pokémon to find out where they are being led to.

Glameow and Misdreavus leads the group straight to Zoey, who looks injured. Zoey tells Dawn and the others that she injured her leg during some training. Dawn looks in her bag for some medicine, but she doesn't have any. Brock of course has lots of medicine. He takes out a potion and sprays it on Zoey's leg. Then Brock bandages it. Zoey tries to stand up, but she can't because of her injured leg. Zoey says that she has set up camp nearby. Dawn offers to take Zoey back to her camp.

Dawn helps Zoey onto a chair where Zoey can rest. Zoey's Shellos is worried about Zoey, but Zoey reassures it that she will be okay. Zoey tells Dawn that she caught her Shellos in the same river where Dawn caught her Buizel. Ash introduces himself to Shellos. Shellos is scared of Ash because it's not used to being around strangers. Meanwhile, Team Rocket is up in a tree spying on Ash and co. James notices that Shellos can be a good Pokémon to use for the Hearthome Contest, so Jessie wants to capture it.

Zoey asks Dawn how her Buizel is doing. Dawn tells her that it is doing great, and she sends out Buizel. Buizel comes out and scares Shellos a bit. Dawn tells Buizel that it shouldn't do that. Piplup scolds Buizel, and soon enough the two Pokémon get into a fight. Zoey tells Dawn that she won't do well in the double performance if her Pokémon act like that. Dawn is confused, and Zoey realizes that Dawn doesn't know about the double performance. Zoey takes out her laptop and logs onto the Pokémon Contest website. Mary appears on the website and says that the upcoming contest is a double performance. This is where the coordinator uses two Pokémon instead of one. Battles become double battles, too. Dawn has never been in one of these contests before, nor has she been training for it. Zoey decides to help Dawn train since she did save her life.

Zoey decides to show Dawn the performance that she has been working on. She is going to use Shellos and Glameow for her performance. Shellos uses Mud Bomb. The mud gets shot into the air. Then Glameow uses Shock Wave on the mud. The combination is very good. Finally, Shellos hits the mud using Hidden Power. The mud explodes, and beautiful sparkles of light are shown. Ash and co. are amazed at Zoey's performance. Zoey explains to Dawn that double performances are a lot tougher because there's so many more factors to think about. Even though Zoey's performance was good, she still wants to make her Pokémon shine better. Coordinators always have to think about something to improve, just like trainers who are training for gym battles. Dawn promises to work hard for this double performance.

Team Rocket realizes that the upcoming contest is a double performance. James thinks that it will be a lot tougher, but Jessie is still confident. With all the double battles she has had with Ash and co., Jessie knows that she will do great. Jessie plans to win the contest. Dawn has her Pokémon all figured out. The first round is with Pachirisu and Piplup. Zoey reminds Dawn to use moves that bring out the Pokémon's beauty. Pachirisu starts off with a Sweet Kiss attack. She then has Piplup use Whirlpool. Unfortunately, the Whirlpool destroys all the hearts. Dawn tells Pachirisu to use Discharge. The Whirlpool soon is surrounded by electricity. It hits Dawn and Piplup, and they receive a big shock.

Dawn decides to try her performance again. This time she has Piplup use Whirlpool and Pachirisu use Discharge. The Discharge overpowers the Whirlpool, resulting in steam. Dawn is sad because none of her tactics are working. Ash suggests that Dawn works on her contest battling moves instead. She may come up with some new moves in the process. Dawn thinks that it is a great idea. Ash is going to use Pikachu and Aipom for the battle, and Dawn is going to use Buneary and Buizel.

Aipom starts off with Swift, and then Pikachu uses Quick Attack to jump into the Swift. Pikachu charges straight for Dawn's Pokémon. Dawn notices that Ash has left Aipom wide open for an attack. She has her Pokémon dodge Pikachu. Then Buizel uses its Aqua Jet on Aipom. Buneary then uses its Ice Beam attack, but it accidentally freezes Buizel. Buizel falls to the ground and knocks itself and Aipom into the river. Zoey tells Dawn that the battle is still on. Dawn has Buizel hit Aipom with Sonicboom. The attack hits, but Aipom manages to get back up on its feet. Ash congratulates Dawn for putting up a good fight. Ash still has a few moves to show. He orders Aipom to use Focus Punch and Pikachu to use Thunderbolt on the ground. The Thunderbolt knocks a lot of stones near Buizel and Buneary. Aipom closes in on Buizel and Buneary. Buneary tries to hit Aipom with Ice Beam, but it misses. Aipom hits Buneary with its Focus Punch. Buneary faints. Pikachu then comes charging towards Buizel with Volt Tackle. Buizel counters with Aqua Jet. The two Pokémon collide into each other. When the collision is over, Buizel faints. Ash wins the battle.

Dawn reviews the moves that she pulled off with her battle with Ash. She thought that Buizel would look good with ice armor. Zoey thinks Dawn is right. All Dawn has to do now is perfect the move. Dawn's Pokémon are 100% with her. Dawn begins to train Buizel and Buneary. Buizel starts off with its Aqua Jet attack, and then Buneary uses Ice Beam. The ice freezes Buizel, and Buiezl falls to the ground again.

Suddenly, Team Rocket walks out in disguises. Jessie is disguised in her contest outfit. She noticed that Dawn was training for the double performance contest. Jessie simply says that Dawn sucks. Jessie is confident that she will win the contest. Dawn knows that she is training hard and that her Pokémon are really good. So Jessie challenges Dawn to a battle. Zoey steps in and says that she will battle Jessie. Zoey doesn't life the fact that Jessie is saying bad things to coordinators who are working hard. Even though Zoey is still injured, she still has the courage and strength to battle Jessie.

Jessie chooses Seviper and Dustox for the battle, and Zoey decides to use Glameow and Shellos. Dustox starts off with a Poison Sting attack. Then Seviper uses its Poison Tail on the Poison Sting to give extra power to the attack. Glameow counters with Iron Tail, and then Shellos destroys the Poison Stings with its Mud Bomb attack. Brock notices that Zoey used her opponent's power to show off her Pokémon's moves. Jessie orders Dustox to use Psybeam. Glameow and Shellos dodge the attack. Glameow uses Shadow Claw, and Shellos uses Blizzard on the Shadow Claw. This increases the power of Glameow's Shadow Claw attack. Glameow strikes both Seviper and Dustox. They fall back into Jessie, and Jessie, Seviper, and Dustox faint. James and Meowth quickly place Jessie, Seviper, and Dustox on a stretcher and carry them away.

Ash, Dawn, and Brock then help Zoey off to the Pokémon Center. Dawn promises Zoey that she will work hard for the upcoming Pokémon contest. Then Zoey wishes Ash the best of luck with his gym battles. Finally, Ash and co. wave goodbye to Zoey, and they continue their way towards Hearthome City.

English Official Summary

Dawn's latest training session is interrupted by a Glameow and Misdreavus that seem to be asking for help, and it's a safe bet that those Pokémon must belong to Zoey! Sure enough, the two Pokémon lead Dawn and her friends to Zoey, who's fallen and sprained her foot. Our heroes treat the sprain the best they can and help Zoey back to her campsite, where everyone is introduced to Zoey's new Shellos. That's when Zoey tells Dawn that the upcoming Hearthome Contest has a double performance format, which means Dawn has to show off two Pokémon at once! Fortunately, Zoey offers to help Dawn train. First, she shows Dawn some of the combinations she has planned for Glameow and Shellos. Then Dawn tries to develop some combinations of her own with Pachirisu and Piplup, but it's even harder than she imagined. Things aren't any smoother when she tries a double battle with Buizel and Buneary against Pikachu and Aipom, but all Dawn can do is practice until her team gets it right. Jessie, now disguised as Jessilina the Coordinator, drops in for a surprise visit and challenges Dawn to a double battle. Zoey's not about to let Jessilina pick on a double battle novice, so she accepts the challenge instead! Injured or not, Zoey still has all her skills intact—her Glameow and Shellos overcome Jessie's Dustox and Seviper with power and style. Zoey's example encourages Dawn to keep on trying, and the two Coordinators look forward to their next meeting at the Hearthome Contest!
