Falkner's Dodrio was Falkner's second Pokémon in the Violet City Gym Battle against Ash Ketchum. Dodrio went up against Pikachu, and the two showed off their great speed by both using Agility at the same time. Dodrio was able to dodge Pikachu's Thunderbolt by jumping high in the air and countering with Fury Attack. Dodrio then hit Pikachu with Drill Peck and attempted to follow up with Tri Attack. However, Pikachu was able to dodge the attack and counter with a massive Thunderbolt. Despite Dodrio's best efforts to get back to its feet, the Thunderbolt proved to be too much and Dodrio was defeated.
