Using the TOMY Z-Ring with Pokémon Sun and Moon
The Pokémon Z-Ring TOMY toy activates by recognizing the sounds that the Nintendo 3DS plays when using a Z-Move in
Sun and Moon. If the crystal in the top main position matches the crystal used in-game, the Z-Ring toy will begin to light up and rumble. The toy does not sync using NFC or WiFi, so players need to use speakers that produce enough sound for the Z-Ring to recognize the sounds.
TOMY's instruction manual for the Z-Ring states that players should:
- Attach the Z-Crystals you wish to use to the top face of the Z-Ring.
- Check position before attaching Z-Crystal. Three prongs should line up with the three holes on the bottom side of the Z-Crystal. Store the extra Z-Crystal in the other positions on the ring.
- Select Nintendo 3DS/2DS Mode.
- Wear Z-Ring on left wrist for best performance.
- Turn volume up for best performance. Select "STEREO" on Nintendo 3DS Family sound settings.
- Do not use headphones with the Nintendo 3DS/2DS.
Using the TOMY Z-Ring with Pokémon Ga-Olé
Z-Moves were added to Pokémon Ga-Olé with the 3rd set which was released on December 8th, 2016. If players accumulate enough power until it reaches the third max power, a
Z-Move Chance (Zワザチャンス) screen will appear. Players that have a TOMY Z-Ring toy can place it on the multi-scanner and select "Have (もってる)" on the screen when they are told to during gameplay. Players that don't have a Z-Ring toy can still access Z-Moves by using the on-screen roulette wheel.
There is only a chance to use a Z-Move as players need to select an icon that allows the use of a Z-Move from the roulette wheel. If the player manages to be able to use a Z-Move, they can increase its power before the move is used by moving the Monster Ball lever and match it to the Trainers on-screen moves during the
Z-Move Power Up (Zワザのパワーアップ) stage. The "Z-Move (Zワザ)" is then activated! Only 1 Z-Move can be used per game play.
